The PM Vishwakarma Yojana is a new scheme launched by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, on September 17, 2023, on Vishwakarma Day. Recognition: Artisans and craftspersons will be recognized as ‘Vishwakarma‘ and issued a certificate to this effect. This will help them to establish their credibility and gain access to new markets.
Skilling: The scheme will provide training and skill development programs to artisans and craftspersons. This will help them to improve their skills and knowledge and produce high-quality products.
Toolkit Incentive: After completing the training, beneficiaries will be provided with a toolkit worth Rs. 15,000. This will help them to set up their own workshop or start a business.
Credit Support: Beneficiaries of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana will be eligible to receive a collateral-free enterprise development loan of Rs. 1 lakh for the first time. This loan can be repaid in 18 months. If the loan is repaid on time, the beneficiary can be eligible for a second loan of Rs. 2 lakh, which can be repaid in 30 months.
Incentive for Digital Transaction: Beneficiaries will receive an incentive of Rs. 1 per transaction for up to 100 transactions per month. This is to encourage them to adopt digital payments.
Marketing Support: The National Committee for Marketing (NCM) will provide services such as quality certification, branding and promotion, and other marketing activities.

Eligibility Criteria for the PM Vishwakarma Yojana
The following criteria must be met to be eligible for the PM Vishwakarma Yojana:
- The applicant must be a citizen of India.
- The applicant must be a traditional artisan or craftsperson.
- The age of the applicant must be greater or equal to 18 years.
- Applicant must possess a valid Aadhaar card.
- The applicant must not be a government employee.
How to Apply for the PM Vishwakarma Yojana
To apply for the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, interested applicants can visit the official website of the scheme at https://pmvishwakarma.gov.in/. The application process is simple and straightforward. Applicants need to fill out a form with their personal details, contact information, and details of their craft or skill. They also need to upload a copy of their Aadhaar card and other relevant documents.
Once the application is submitted, it will be verified by the Gram Panchayat or ULB level. If the application is found to be complete and accurate, it will be forwarded to the District Implementation Committee. The District Implementation Committee will then screen the applications and select the eligible beneficiaries. The selected beneficiaries will be issued a certificate of recognition as ‘Vishwakarma’ and will be eligible to receive all the benefits under the scheme.
